Interior Design

Interior design is an art and a skill that transforms a vision into a space that is exactly as the owner hoped for. When the walls are put up and the frame is complete, it is the interior elements that bring a space together. It takes a keen eye and a creative mind to visualize a concept and pull the elements together to create a cohesive space that goes beyond the vision. That is what Kanso Interior Design does. We are here to take an idea and build out an interior space.

At Kanso, our interior design style is centred around the needs and wants of our clients. We pull together unique contemporary finishes, create functional spaces, and offer one of a kind details to create a space that will exceed client expectations. Whether you are building a dream home to raise your family or designing an office space, your interior is the final piece of the puzzle to pull that atmosphere and environment together.

Initial Consultation

The initial consultation is about getting to know you, our client, and introducing you to Kanso. In a detailed 2-hour session, we will take an in depth look at your wish list for each space of the home. We will discuss the expectations of the designer to ensure we have a great working relationship and open communication.

It is Kanso's goal to demonstrate that you and your project are in good hands. We understand home building and house renovations can be overwhelming and high stress situations. Kanso wants to help ease that stress and make the interior design process as seamless as possible.

Contract Approval

Once the initial design consultation is complete, the next step is to build the contract and project scope. To do so, Kanso will provide a contract outlining the scope of work, areas of design, timeframes, budget, and fees.

Once approved and deposit has been received, the project and the fun really can begin.

Drawing Package / Design Development

The design development and drawing package phase is where the ideas and dreams come to fruition. The space planning, conceptual design, elevations, details, electrical plans, and specifications are determined.

Good communication is key at this stage to ensure design details are  not overlooked and that expectations are being met.

Finish Package / Product Selection

As Kanso works to complete the drawing package, the finishes for the design are starting to be selected. This phase can be very overwhelming for some. However, Kanso's years of experience will help to guide you through this process. Our designer, Tracy, can either guide you through the process  and provide a shopping list of finishes to select; and then provide professional feedback on the selection options you choose.

Another option is to have Kanso complete the selection process for you. Our designer, Tracy, is passionate about design and will meticulously select finishes and products based on your vision She will then present a complete package that includes a vision board highlighting the style direction. This way, you have less to  worry about and can sit back and enjoy the experience.

Revision

Although we aim to get it right the first time, we know that changes may need to be made. During the revision process, you will have the opportunity to discuss any changes to the drawings and finish package. Kanso will be sure to check for any conflicts or technical design challenges that could impact construction. These can be costly mistakes but with a keen attention to the details and a thorough understanding of the construction phase, Kanso is confident in our designs.
