Meet The Designer

(kan-so)

Kanso is a Japanese word for simplicity. It comes from the seven principles of Zen. When we design with Kanso, we are looking at the natural space and incorporating clean and simple elements to create a calming space. Our world is busy and can be chaotic, we want our homes to be a place of quiet, simplicity and with the essentials of our lives.

When we choose furniture, finishings and decorative pieces to complete a home; we do so with Kanso - to satisfy the need for quiet, tranquil and simplicity.

MEET KANSO OWNER,

TRACY BIRNIE

Owner and Principal Designer, Tracy Birnie of Kanso Interior Design has been a thriving custom home and renovation expert for over 15 years.  Tracy has worked hard to develop and maintain a reputable name for herself in the industry.

Tracy is known for her meticulous attention to detail. Her keen, creative eye can transform  an empty, blank space into a space with  dimension  and depth.  It is what led Tracy throughout her successful career in interior design and interior styling.

Tracy's approach to modern design is to use clean lines, neutral tones, natural materials and tactile textures that stand the test of time. The finishes must complement one another to create a cohesive design throughout the space.

Tracy believes that the interior style should be a space that can be enjoyed for years. She believes it is important to design a space that will hold the test of time and have longevity

I believe a space should feel timeless regardless of the style, the trends and the era we are in.”- Tracy, Owner and Interior Designer at Kanso.

Tracy’s ultimate joy is hearing how much her clients love the space and that it is more than they could have dreamed. She takes on every project with the dedication and determination to create a space that even the client themselves could never have imagined. Her true talent is to listen to their needs, assess their style and transform that into a physical space.

Throughout the design, and into the construction phase, her keen eye for the details is incredibly important as any misinterpretation can make or break the design and change the true essence of what the space was meant to become.
